Starting the year off right!

Aloha from beautiful Oahu!

I can't believe we are entering February 2011 already! Things have been flying by for me. I hope your 2011 is going great!I just returned from a visit to San Diego which was a blast. It was a whirlwind to see everyone and get it all in. Ryan and I did have a chance to meet up as he came to a dinner my friends threw to welcome me back in town.

It's a DIY steakhouse and it's amazing!

Yes....the restaurant we ate at (my absolute fav in San Diego if you ever need a recommendation) has BACON CHOCOLATE CAKE...now you might be thinking bacon...chocolate???...Jackie, you have lost it but do not knock this combo until you have tried it. I promise.
I was able to visit some friends that have recently announced their soon to be new additions (meaning my roll as "cool auntie Jackie" will grow) to which my immediate response was that I HAD to get them our HF baby onesies, so stay tuned for some cute new HF models!

Speaking of HF models..(and per one of HF's beloved instructor Lon's request)...here's your shout out to your friend's lil one :)

And while I stayed in San Diego for a week, Ryan was off to Hawaii! Pro Bowl fever hit the island. Hawaiian Fire was lucky to host a few players in some surfing 101 but I will let Ryan fill you in on that in another blog as I am sure he has lots to say about those experiences! It was really great to have the Pro Bowl back on Oahu this year. I read a news story that said it brought an estimated 30 million to our economy! That is amazing! We have to find a way to keep that coming back every year.

Hopefully if you watched the game, you saw some highlights of our beautiful island. It's what drew me here! It's an amazing and spiritual place to live. I get to do a lot of hiking, camping and exploring that you just can't beat! Our HF surf students are always asking us where to go when you are here visiting or things to do on your vacation. Most know of the famous and iconic Diamond Head (great view from the top)
but there is another fairly easy hike if you want to get out of the Waikiki area and just head east to the direction of the windward side. The Makapu'u Lighthouse trail is an easy, paved trail that leads up about 2 miles to amazing views.

So as I bid you all a Happy Aloha Monday, I want to remind you that since the next blog post will be in a few weeks....right around a special holiday that involves the boring old chocolate heart shaped candy, flowers, champagne....another creative and romantic way to celebrate Valentines Day is taking a surf lesson as a couple. It's a great way to bond together and you will both love the experience! The photos will tell a great story too. Call us to book!

Thanks for reading and have a great week!
Jackie
