A Happy Hawaiian Fire Halloween!

Aloha to the entire Hawaiian Fire Ohana! First, our apologies for the amount of time that has passed since our last update. Ryan, we all miss you! Hope you're enjoying San Diego! Second, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself to you all. My name is Jackie or many of my friends call me, "Margo". I know, weird, but it's a basically just a shortened version of my last name. I have had the pleasure of working with HF now since earlier this year but I too, like many of you readers out there, took my first surf lesson ever with these awesome instructors while on vacation! Noah pushed me into my first wave and I was hooked! If you have taken a lesson with us, you know what I am talking about. I'm from San Diego (Go Chargers! Yeah, it's a labor of love but nonetheless, it's a passion) and moved here after visiting enough times that I just decided to make it permanent. It's been a crazy journey but wouldn't change it for a million dollars (ok, maybe a million but no less!). For those of you who have taken a recent lesson with us, we may have spoken on the phone or if you have stopped into 3318 Campbell Ave hopefully we have met! If not, come by when you are in the area to say hi!

So I suppose an update on the HF family is definitely in order since it's been a while. Our beach crew is still doing a great job as always! Sean, Kazu, Noah and the whole team really
put in some hard work down at Kalaeloa beach this summer. We continue to get some great feedback from our students http://hawaiianfire.com/read_reviews.htm and encourage you all to add your comments about your lesson on TripAdvisor. We love to hear about your experience with Hawaiian Fire because it's really what makes everyone's jobs worth it and I know the beach crew loves to hear from you!

In early summer, our office crew got together for a girls night out before Laura
, a long time HF staffer, moved to Tucson. Being the foodies we all are, we truly enjoyed our champagne and delicious seafood at BLT Steakhouse in the new Trump Tower Hotel.
Summer was b
usy in the shop but Malia, Brittany, Chiaki, Jazzy, Wisa and myself managed to fit in a second girls night out in July to celebrate some summer achievements with another fantastic culinary delight at Azure in the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. Again, we were all members of the "clean plate" club.

So moving on from our food excursions! (Although we
here at HF do not shy away from food so stop by the shop, look around and we will always offer recommendations to some of our favorites.) On that note, our very own #1 foodie in the office just completed a major accomplishment. Many of you have met or spoken to Malia when booking a lesson or visiting the shop but may not know how amazing she truly is! Malia has spent 5 years dedicated to raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society and this year she is already at $5,150!!!. Her most recent MAJOR accomplishment was completing the Nike Woman's Marathon in San Francisco on October 17th. Way to go Malia!
While Malia was finishing the marathon out in San Francisco, the HF gang was at the Shack in Waikiki for the "Team Hawaiian Fire" fundraiser which helped raise money for the Honolulu Fire Department softball and volleyball teams to travel and compete in the World Police and Fir
efighter games. (August 26-September 5, 2011 in New York City). It was a huge success! There was great food, entertainment, raffle prizes and the place was packed by 7pm! Thanks to all who came and supported!
So now that you all have been updated with all tha
t's going on world of Hawaiian Fire, we can wish you a Happy Hawaiian Fire Halloween! 85 degrees and sunny does not much feel like fall but we definitely got into the spirit of things over here. Wisa added some Halloween decor and tasked us each with decorating our own baby pumpkin. (I'm much better at carving than drawing!)
I hope you all had a great and spooky Halloween! Visit our Facebook page and send us photos if you dressed up as a firefighter, we would get a kick! We also want to invite you to se
nd us photos of yourself, family and friends wearing your HF gear in cool places from around the world. We will post some of them on our HF world portion on the website so keep checking the site www.hawaiianfire.com and also the blog for more posts. I want to say thanks to all of you that have taken a lesson with us and for keeping up with our HF ohana by reading the blog. Send it to your friends and make sure to give us a call when you are on the beautiful island of Oahu for a surf lesson. We will see you in the water!

Aloha
