Hawaiian Fire - Joe of all Trades

When Joe is not teaching you how to surf he's either fighting fires or causing them...and for once, I'm not making some chiche comment about his looks. He actually is causing them, with a sexy red and blue cocktail, some Bacardi 152 (or some other highly flammable consumable alcohol) floating on the top, and of course, a lighter.

Wailana, Chessa, Joe & Wisa

Marc Hino and Steph

Last week, Joe competed and advanced to the finals of the bartending competition held this past Tuesday at Ryan's Grill at Ward. While most of you were sleeping, several of the Hawaiian Fire crew were there to support Joe who was competing against eight other bartenders from various restaurants on the island. Marc was sick as a dog but still made it to support his best friend and Wailana made an appearance as well.

As expected, he did fabulously but unfortunately he did not win first place. You can find him at Hukilau Restaurant downtown or if you watch some old episodes of Lost you might see him playing a bartender. Oh, and you can find him at Hawaiian Fire Surf School of course!

I'm sure Ryan is working on posting pictures of his trip to San Diego last week so I'm going to leave it up to him to tell you all about it. He brought home some brand spankin' new San Diego Chargers clothes for us that have already been put to use. We wish he could've brought mom back with him to make us some warm chocolate chip cookies but I guess we'll have to wait until December again.

I'd also like to mention:

HF instructor Sean Kelly is thinking about doing the Kauai Marathon in September and has been training almost every morning before you see him at the beach. Yes, that's right, he's up before the sun and picking up his pace these days. I'll keep you updated and maybe I'll get some pictures of him up.

Mahalo to Chessa for sporting the Hawaiian Fire rash guard while volunteering with Kimi Werner and many local volunteers (and many Honolulu Fire Fighters) at Nimitz Beach. This charity brought siblings together that have been separated due to their foster situation. The day was filled with surfing, stand up paddling, kayaking and tons of other activities. This event was sponsored by Maui Sporting Goods, Wet Feet, Go Bananas and many more. It was a blast!
