Whether you have experienced a surf lesson through Hawaiian Fire Surf School or just happen to know one of the fire fighters or staff members, we welcome you to "Aloha Monday" which is supposed to bring a bit of Aloha to you, mostly on Mondays.
We find that a lot of our students want to keep in touch or want to know what has been going on with us so this is a way for us to keep in touch. Please visit us often and we welcome your comments. ~Aloha!
CONGRATULATIONS to former Hawaiian Fire surf instructor Kira and her husband Ryan! While at their annual family Easter get-together on the North Shore, Kira started getting contractions and put it off because she (1) has never had a baby before and didn't know if she was hungry or if it was actually "time" and (2) because she was having so much fun with her family at this party. Shortly after that, she sent a text to her friends at 2pm saying that her water broke! Another text followed only about an hour or two later saying that she gave birth to a baby boy and was in labor for just 21 minutes! For those who know Kira, this doesn't sound too surprising. Kira said that she started pushing at the stoplight right before Queen's Hospital while Ryan was driving like a madman trying to get her to the front door of the hospital. Shortly after that, I arrived to see the new baby and to bring her ice cream cake per her request. She didn't even seem tired even though she had already told the story a ton of times before we got there. I guess that baby Roberts really wanted to go Easter Egg Hunting! They still haven't decided on his name yet so I'll Twitter that when she decides on it.
Moving along to some more freshness...
We brought new life to the Hawaiian Fire store the other day. Sometimes it gets difficult juggling the surf school with finding time for friends and family, but we squeezed in some time to bring new life to the store. It was actually the first time I've ever painted something like this but Kevin knew what he was doing. Do you like it? Too bad Ryan wasn't here to help but he is still in San Diego hanging out with the family for a few more days.
More freshness...
Dale Pregil is pictured above with her friend/teacher/owner of Makana Academy (www.makanaacademy.com). She is becoming an esthetician and I am happy to report that this place was unbelievable! Dale gave me a facial that lasted about an hour and it was high quality service without the high price. If you're ever in Honolulu you have to check them out. I told all of my girlfriends about it and they have their treatments scheduled for the upcoming weeks. Since Dale is John's wife, John went in and got a facial too (shhhhhh) and he told me that he truly enjoyed it and it was very relaxing. With all of the sunscreen we wear and the damage the sun does to our skin, it's nice to get something like this once in awhile.
Lastly, I had a wonderful time yesterday down at the beach with Rachel. I don't have a picture with me but I had a one-on-one lesson with her and she did amazing! She stood up on her first wave and even though she was getting cold, she stuck it out because she was having so much fun. She asked me if my boyfriend (Kevin) taught me how to surf and I said "NO!". Haha. It was loads of fun that day. Thanks Rachel for surfing with me!
