Before I get started with the main subject of this weeks' blog I wanted to give out a huge MAHALO from the entire HF Crew to Zoe. She was last weeks' guest writer for Aloha Monday and she couldn't have done a better job. I cant say that I am exactly thrilled with the picture of me passed out on the couch but what can you do. We love you guys and can't wait to see you out in Hawaii sometime soon. Anyone else that is feeling the desire to write one of these is more than welcome. Just get in touch with us and we'll let you know how. Now...I'm sure the word "Naked" along with a picture of Rob Schneider has you wondering what the hell is going on this week at Hawaiian Fire. Well aside from being quite busy with huge groups of students and families on sping break and the usual full plate of retail duties that come along with our shop I had a chance to be a part of a little side job that turned out to be a lot of fun and the end result was pretty damn funny. I mean when isn't nudity funny? Ok, I know a lot of times when nudity is not funny (ie undersized speedos on oversized individuals) but in this instance it was classic.
While searching for a new place to live I came across an add for "Extra's Wanted" on the internet. I sent an email thinkin nothing of it and a few hours later I received a call. The next day I was up at the top of St. Louis taking part in a Mock Trailer for funnyordie.com. I showed up and it was quite a production with at least 20-30 people involved. The idea here was to spoof the 1980's film "Red Dawn" in a three minute trailer. Rob Schneider is the head of a nudist colony when suddenly their "freedom" is invaded by foreign troops. From then on guns and flesh were flying and some hilarious times were had by all of the actors involved. Luckily I drew the part of Russian soldier so there were no nude scenes for myself. The best part was that these extras were led to belive they would have flesh colored underwear and when they showed up they were givin a panty ho and some tape. You can use your imagination to figure out what went where. It was quite cold that day as well so again I was happy I drew the role of soldier. It took only about 2-3 hours but everyone was cracking up and having some fun and getting along great. I even had a chance to do some Hawaiian Fire PR and hand out at many cards as possible to those that were interested in surfing. I made sure to tell the nudists that they had to wear a bathing suit to the lesson though. Things moved a long smoothly and all I had to do was run through the forest screaming Russian obscenities and march over a hill. Not being the most experienced actor I was more than happy with that role. You'll have to have 20/20 vision and freeze the frame at just the right time to catch a glimpse but I swear Im in there when the troops march over the hell chanting a Russian song. It was a quick one this week but things have been so busy with us at Hawaiian Fire that its a little hard to get extra creative sometimes. Monday has never come around so fast until we started this Aloha Monday. Hence the occasional Aloha Tuesday or Aloha Wednesday. We hope you all aren't severly dissappointed when the blog isn't right on time but we promise to keep them coming to you as often and as punctual as possible.
